A UNIQUE SALE OF MANUSCRIPT ITEMS BY ANDREW COLLINS

1. Collins, Andrew, 'The Sword and the Stone', MS, A4 lined paper, 130 pp, 1982. Written facsimile used to create the typed manuscript of this psychic questing classic, brought out in advance of the publication of Graham Phillips and Martin Keatman's The Green Stone, much to the consternation of publishers Neville Spearman. The Sword and the Stone was published originally as Issue No. 2 of The Supernaturalist in 1982. Main text 106 pp, plus 18 pp Afterward entitled 'A Commentary So Far', 6 pp of prelims and changes, kept in contemporary plastic pocket. £450.

2. Collins, Andrew, miscellaneous hand-written texts, written on A4 lined paper. These are: a) 'Ghosts - A discourse into the current, not so romantic theories', 21pp, which expounds the so-called 'stone tape theory' regarding the nature of ghosts, hauntings and poltergeist phenomena. Staple in LH corner, rusty with age. Written in 1981, and published in The Supernaturalist, Issue One. b) 'Why Earthquest?', 28pp, being an attempt to explain all aspects of the coming new age, including ideas and philosophies that would take many years to become mainstream. Sub titles include 'What is New Age thought?', 'What do people mean by the "New Age"?' 'What is our attitude towards nature?', 'What is paganism?', What is the "earth mysteries" subject?', 'What did past cultures do that we don't know?', 'Divine control', 'The rebirth of the Old Ways', 'From Celts to Christianity', 'After the fall of the Celtic Church', 'The shadow of the Templars', and 'What became of this sacred wisdom?'. Linked with contemporary paper clip. This material was printed subsequently as a booklet entitled 'Why Earthquest?', published 1981. It was given to those who attended an inaugural Earthquest public meeting in Basildon, Essex, on 16 December that year. Both items are contained inside a contemporary plastic pocket. £150.

3. Collins, Andrew, 'The Chosen', unique unpublished MS, being the author's able attempt at committing to paper the entire events surrounding the Green Stone story. Part One, written in 1981, is a contemporary stapled photocopy of an 18 pp. typed Introduction to the book, which was a prototype to The Green Stone. The names of the main characters in the text have been changed from Andrew Collins and Graham Phillips to Gareth Sorrel and Robert Mirren. Part Two is a hand written text of a book dated January 1982. Here real names are used instead of pseudonyms. The book covers the entire Meonia story from the foundation of Strange Phenomena magazine in July 1979 to the retrieval of the Meonia Sword and Green Stone in October that year. 101 pp. Part Three is entitled 'A Short Discourse on the Apparent History of Meonia since the Tenth Century AD'. Contemporary photocopy, 9 pp, on A4 80g paper, stapled in the LH corner, c. 1980/1981. This is the purported 'heritage' of 'Meonia', the illustrious historical characters who supposedly possessed or were connected with the Green Stone from the tenth century onwards. They include St Edith, daughter of King Edgar, St Dunstan, Steven Harding, founder of the Cistercians, the de Weston family of Weston Park, West Midlands; the Knights Templar, Mary Queen of Scots, the Gunpowder Plotters, Thomas Hobbes, Charles II, the founders of the Royal Society, Sir Isaac Newton, Roger and Samuel Gale of the Antiquarian Society, William Blake and Benjamin Disraeli. It must be pointed out that this is a psychic history, and not necessarily real. All three items are contained in a contemporary plastic pocket. Immense publishing potential. £1000.

4. Collins, 'Andy', 'The Meonia Saga', MS, 143 pp, hand written, c. 1980/1981, in blue ink on A4 lined paper with margin. Contained in contemporary blue clip file, with cardboard frontispiece marked with title and author. Unpublished account of Green Stone/Meonia story, different in content and style from 'The Stone and the Stone' and 'The Chosen', covering a much longer period from the events surrounding the Aveley abduction, Britain's first ever time-loss case investigated by Andrew in 1977-78, through to the build up and discovery of the Meonia Sword and Green Stone, and then onwards from November 1979 through to 1st May 1980, when Andrew, Graham and the Meonia group visited Iona to unlock the powers of the Green Stone. Another prototype of The Green Stone, but much fuller in content as written only shortly after the events occurred. Although original names were used originally, these have been altered throughout the text to the pseudonyms contained in the Introduction to 'The Chosen', written a few months later. Again immense publishing potential. £1000.

5. Collins, Andrew, 'The Sword and the Stone', MS, 144pp, numbered pp. 1, 7-149, hand written, c. 1982, contained in contemporary blue ring file binders. Prototype MS for 'The Sword and the Stone', yet increased here from eight chapters (106 pp) to nine (144 pp). Thus it contains a much expanded account of the Green Stone saga, although the Afterward of the final version is here missing. £500.

6. Collins, Andrew, 'The Seventh Sword', MS, 1000+ pp, hand written, c. 1990/1991, contained in four contemporary black ring files, with the following chapter breakdown: File One, Ch. 0-20, File Two, ch. 21-31; File Three, ch. 32-49; File Four (double thickness), ch. 50-81. This was the second draft of The Seventh Sword (1991), which was used to create a type-written copy. It contains 81 chapters, and thus represents the full story as it was meant to be read prior to the decision by the publishers to lose some 14 chapters. These include the entire Lights of Knowledge quest from January/February 1981, which helped establish a magical reality to Britain's May Day sunrise line, otherwise known as the St Michael Line. Many of the places featured here were explored subsequently by Paul Broadhurst and Hamish Miller for their bestseller The Sun and the Serpent (1989). Other restored chapters cover the return to the Lights of Knowledge quest in December 1989 to gain the 'Ninth Light', as well as the finding by psychic means of a small black horse statue at Glastonbury on New Year's Day 1990. This MS represents the fully restored original form of The Seventh Sword, and thus provides a unique publishing potential. £1500.
