THE STARCHILD SKULL MYSTERY - HOAX OR GENUINE?

"Grant wishes to make it clear that he does not, nor has he ever, worked for Starchild Project. He does NOT share all the views or accept all of the supporting data or theories stated on the StachildProject website. Particularly, he does NOT assume that the Starchild skull is that of an extra-terrestrial or extraterrestrial hybrid."

(Statement made July 2004 )

In the 1920's a young woman found two skeletons whilst exploring some caves in Mexico. One of them was particularly unusual and she kept them locked away for many years. Eventually, they were passed on to others and, finally, four years ago, the present owners approached Lloyd Pye - a researcher into the origins of life, with a particular interest in unknown hominids such as the Yeti and Abominable Snowman - to ask if he could find out a little more about them.

Unfortunately, only the two skulls are left, the small and more unusual of which has since been dubbed the 'Starchild Skull'. After four years of research with around 60 scientific and medical experts in a variety of fields, Pye has become convinced that the Starchild Skull is either that of an alien or human-alien hybrid.

The skull in question looks very similar to a human at first glance, but on closer inspection the differences between this and a conventional skull are thought-provoking to say the least. For example, the shapes of the eyes are totally unlike that of a human. The skull is unusually shaped and the cranial capacity is well above normal, yet it weighs nearly half that of a normal skull of the same size. It therefore seems contradictory that the bone has been found to be roughly twice as hard (and dense) as that of a normal human. Every aspect of this skull is different, yet there appears to be no known diseases, accidents or social factors that might explain it, other than artificial head deformation, which has been dismissed as untenable.

The skull gained its appellation because of the so-called ‘starchild legend’, recounted to Lloyd by a scientist who specialises in native Amerindian myths and legends. Apparently, in some regions of Mexico local tribes talk of being visited in the past by their ‘gods’, who would choose a barren woman to conceive and give birth to a ‘starchild’. She would be responsible for bringing this child up until the age of 3 or 4, when they would return and take the child from her. This is similar in some ways to certain claims associated with the modern-day abduction scenario.

In light of all the evidence Pye now believes that the Starchild legend represents the most plausible explanation for the appearance of the skull. In order to be certain, he called for full DNA tests to be conducted on the skull. These, he knew, would be expensive and time-consuming, but finally he got the funding and tests began in February 2003.

In his lecture, Grant will provide a complete fact file on the Starchild Skull, and offer possible explanations as to its true origin and strange appearance. He will also comment on the results of the crucial DNA testing which will provide a better understanding of this great mystery of our times.

Grant Stapleton was born and schooled in South Africa. After completing his O-levels and then 2 years of National Service in the army, he set up his first company at the age of 19, in Cape Town. Since then he has started or been involved with a number of enterprises in a variety of industries, and between those that were successful he has done some flying, a lot of travelling and a lot of sailing, ending up in the UK in 1991.

Since childhood he has had a strong interest in scientific anomalies and the origins of life. He and his business partner, Belinda Mackenzie, have recently set up Cognoscence, an organisation dedicated to help funding research into those areas of science presently neglected by mainstream academe.
