Andrew Collins
It was
followed by the publication two years later of Andrew's next book GODS
OF EDEN, which argues that the genesis of civilisation was catalysed
by the arrival in the Near East, the site of ancient Eden, of priest-shamans
from the Nile Valley. It also details the existence and possible science
of sound technology in the ancient world. Andrew is the organiser of the Questing Conference, which is now into its 16th year - the first having taken place at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1 in November 1986. In that time it has attracted some of the best names in prehistory and alternative archaeology, including Graham Hancock (3 times), Robert Bauval (4 times), David Rohl, Archie Roy, Adrian Gilbert, Victor Clube, Colin Wilson, Michael Baigent, Neil Steede, Michael Cremo, Graham Phillips, Lynn Picknett, Clive Prince, Yuri Stoyenov, Michael Rice, and many, many more. It has also attracted some more eclectic speakers such as the late Michael Bentine, the actor Mark Ryan, 2001 AD creator Pat Mills, fantasy writer Storm Constantine and, er, Charlie Chuck, alias Uncle Peter from 'Reeves and Mortimer'. The success of the Questing Conference has been due to Andrew's commitment to furthering our understanding of the past and spreading the word to the greatest possible audience. Yet the event could not take place without the help of his wife Sue Collins and his friends, described once in a FORTEAN TIMES review as 'The Tribe', due to their often black and gothic-like appearance (a little unfair really. They do wear other colours some years!). ALTERNATIVE HISTORY, FORBIDDEN ARCHAEOLOGY OVER THE LAST YEAR In his brief lecture, to be given at the beginning of the day's programme, Andrew will review some of the events that have mattered in 2001. Although his lecture could change, it is likely that he will provide a review of the recent discoveries of an alleged underwater 'city' off Cuba. He will also refer to the discovery of long-headed skulls on Malta which have been dated to 2000-3000 BC and are not considered to have been artificially deformed. The implications of these skulls for the theory that the Watchers and Nephilim of early Judeo-Christian literature are enormous and have been highlighted already by Adriano Forgione in the Italian magazine HERA. In addition to these subjects other topics which have been in the news recently include the discovery of underwater ruins off the island of Santorini in the Aegean, which are being claimed as evidence of Atlantis on a new Channel 4 documentary, and the origins of the Neolithic revolution in the Near East being pushed back to 11,500 BC. There is talk of a new tomb being found in the Valley of the Kings by British archaeologist Nicholas Reeves nearly 80 years after the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. What is the latest evidence here? Read Andrew's lecture to find out.
