The tomb of Tutankhamun was undoubtedly the greatest archaeological discovery of all time, and everyone knows this remarkable find was beset by troubles. The untimely death of Lord Carnarvon just after the opening of the tomb, and his appetite for all things occult, swiftly gave rise to rumours of a curse. Moreover, the presence of certain art treasures in museums across the United States provides compelling clues concerning the greater indiscretions of British Egyptologist Howard Carter and the British aristocrat.

Less well known is that among the wonderful treasures removed from the tomb were rumoured to be papyri that revealed 'the true account' of the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. More incredibly, Howard Carter threatened to release details of their contents to the world media during a heated argument with a British official in Cairo shortly after the tomb's discovery. The existence of these papyri, and the apparent motives behind their suppression, is dynamite in theirs implications for world history. At a time when Arab hostility towards Britain's support for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine was spilling on to the streets of Jerusalem and Jaffa, Carter's incredible actions might well have had grave consequences across the Middle East.

The mystery of the controversial papyri and the background to their explosive contents are investigated fully against the age of Tutankhamun and its relationship with the biblical Exodus story.

The book ably demonstrates that the Exodus did indeed occur during the reign of Tutankhamun and his successors, when a dreadful plague ravaged Egypt and Western Asia. Yet those who were ejected from Egypt were not Israelites released from bondage, as the Bible states. They were Asiatic peoples forcibly ejected because they were believed to be carriers of the plague.

The book also traces the route of the Exodus to the ancient city of Petra in southern Jordan, where new evidence suggests the original Mount Sinai was located, and follows the history of the Jewish nation from the Conquest of Canaan through to modern times. Finally, it shows how if Howard Carter had been allowed to reveal the contents of the Exodus papyri to the international media, as he intended to do, it would not only have derailed sensitive negotiations regarding the establishment of a Jewish National Home in Palestine, but would also have changed the face of Middle Eastern history forever.

In addition to these findings, TUTANKHAMUN: THE EXODUS CONSPIRACY provides the most comprehensive account of the events which led up to the birth of the curse of Tutankhamun. It reveals Lord Carnarvon's arguably unhealthy passion for all things occult and supernatural, his involvement with well-known fortune tellers, such as Count Louis Hamon, alias 'Cheiro', and how dire warnings concerning the consequences of illegally removing objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun might have affected the deteriorating health of the deeply superstitious British aristocrat.

Officially Carnarvon died of viral pneumonia, but Collins and Ogilvie-Herald have unearthed information as the result of a most thorough investigation of the events leading up to his death. They demonstrate that shortly before his death, and even before he sustained a fateful mosquito bite which exacerbated his failing health and led to blood poisoning, the British aristocrat showed distinct signs of suffering from rare metal poisoning, perhaps brought on by the introduction of mercury into his bodily system.

The origin of this toxic poisoning is discussed in detail. It could have come from a tomb explored by Lord Carnarvon. Yet the fact that he might well have become embroiled in the controversy surrounding the apparent discovery of the papyri, means that foul play cannot be ruled out.

Tutankahmun: The Exodus Conspiracy is the fullest ever account of the life of Tutankahmun and the background to the discovery of his tomb. Its revelations also of the origins of the Israelite race alter our understanding of world history, and offer a new perception on the events of the last 100 years that have led to the current Arab-Israeli conflict.

The chapter forms the most in-depth review ever written of the events leading up to the birth of the alleged 'curse of the pharaohs', or 'curse of Tutankhamun'. It reveals Lord Carnarvon's arguably unhealthy passion for all things occult and supernatural, his involvement with well-known fortune tellers, such as Count Louis Hamon, alias 'Cheiro', and how dire warnings concerning the consequences of opening the tomb of Tutankhamun might have affected the deteriorating health of the deeply superstitious British aristocrat.

Appendix I - The Death of Tutankhamun

In his international bestseller THE MURDER OF TUTANKHAMUN, first published in 1998, paleopathologist Bob Brier accuses Aye, Tutankhamun's vizier and administrator, of assassinating the boy-king. This conclusion was reached after he examined forensic evidence derived from the pathological studies of Tutankhamun's remains conducted by Professor Ronald G. Harrison of the University of Liverpool. This subject is tackled at some length and an entirely new explanation for the death of the boy-king is proposed.

Appendix II - Pork Abstinence and the Worship of Set

In recent years, anthropologists and archaeo-zoologists have accumulated a wealth of new material regarding the nature and spread of animal husbandry in the Near East during the Bronze Age and Iron Age. This alone has led to fresh ideas regarding the ethnicity of proto-Israelite sites in the Palestinian central highlands, based on the absence among the faunal assemblages of pig bones. Not unnaturally, minimalist Bible scholars have seized on these findings to demonstrate that pork abstinence among Jews and Moslems originated with these Iron Age communities, who must therefore be seen as the ancestors of the earliest Israelites. Yet it can be demonstrated equally well that the absence of pig bones at these sites may well have stemmed from a fusion of religious customs and beliefs among Asiatics and Egyptians living in the Eastern Delta, prior to the time of the Exodus. This paper also explores the revival of the worship of Set - one of the forms of which was the pig - in Egypt's Eastern Delta during the late Eighteenth and early Nineteenth Dynasties. It concludes that this was initiated by an obscure female king named Sobek-nofru, who reigned at the end of the Twelfth Dynasty, c. 1800 BC, just prior to the establishment of the Hyksos rule in Egypt.

Appendix III - Egyptian Names Among the Levites

A short paper exploring the preponderance of Egyptian names found among early Israelites which the Old Testament tells us either took part in the Exodus or were present in the wilderness prior to the conquest of Canaan. More significant is the fact that these names appear connected directly with the priestly caste known as the Levites.
